Volant CAI

Allright, from reading on this forum for awhile it seems like the Volant CAI or the Roush is the best bang for the buck. Where did any of you guys get the Volant? Moss Motors has the Roush CAI for $280 through Friday on their site. Also how much was the Volant?

Bob over at http://www.jusnesmodified.com has them for $269 and free shipping. I ordered mine on a Tuesday and had it by Saturday (fedEx ground).

Bob, you need to enact some kind of referral point system man!!

What kind of improvement do you see with the Volant CAI?
Be honest!
I'm sure you get some intake noise......which I would actually like.
What about power? I'm a little skeptical....please give an honest option if its worth the money. Also, does the Volant use an oil impregnated K&N type air filter?

Can't really give numbers...I don't own a dyno machine. I've got a magnaflow cat-back so there is a bit more pep with the CAI added, especially over 2000rpm. Definitely more noise. I'm currently tracking my mileage, I'll post a graph after a get a few more weeks of data.

It uses a blue k&n like filter. The instructions say to brush it off like every 10 or 15K miles and to not do a wash until 50K miles.

got mine from Bob Jusnes also...great seller and fairly fast shipping

blue filter also that is the same style as the K&N. no CEL ever though. I noticed better throttle response and it does make my 5.4 sound like a v-8...which is a good thing IMO. combined with my Magnaflow, I'm very happy with it.

The volant is a great performing intake and my number one favorite. It has been developed for years now on this truck and the likelihood of running too lean is pretty much nil.

The roush kit is nothing more than a rebranded AIRAID system, which we actually sell for a few bucks less if you factor in that our shipping is free. AIRAID makes a pretty good system, but the enclosed filter box on the Volant makes for a much better intake.

We sell the Volant for $269 shipped. Should be about the lowest on the net, hopefully.

i hope it does!!! lol... sry, just had to put that out there. the volant is one of the better cai kits out there. draws air in from the fender, rather than the motor bay. the noise? yes, it's beautiful

289?? what was your tq?

I have the edge on a 04 screw with the 5.4 and with the airaid MIT and a k&n drop in and a sido 40 series flow I pulled 247 hp and 334 tq on the dyno surely the volant isn't pulling another 42 hp?

can you post the dyno slip? I'd love to have that proof that our trucks can put out dang near 300 RWHP with <$1500 of bolt-ons

You forgot to mention your Kenne Bell under the hood. Honestly your closer to 230whp.

Volant makes a good intake, plus it has the ram air upgrade.

I'd say 240 RWHP stock, and up to 260 RWHP with the goodies. Don't belive that stupid Trucks episode. Thing was rigged. I've seen three different dyno graphs from companies touting their products. K&N, Outlaw, and I can't rememebr the 3rd. I'll try to dig it up. They all dyno'ed stock at ~240 RWHP.

I'm wanting to say the Banks was the 3rd.

problem with that Ram Air scoop is if you go 4x4 and forget to remove it. that could suck. btw, did you guys know that you can force mud through the seams in the bed? I nailed a mud puddle yesterday and the mud came squirting through the bed. Kinda cool, but very strange.
