U-Joints you can grease
I just limped home from a trip to the cabin with a bad left front U-Joint on my 91 F-350. I had serviced the front axle less than 18 month ago and should have put in new U-Joints instead of just blasting them with WD-40 to get them moving freely at the time.
My question is, does anybody know where to get joints that you can actually grease after you come out of the mud so the darn things don't rust up before the next time you want to use them.
The U-Joints are a real problem on the 91' F350 which has automatic hubs. With the bad U-joint the left hub would not unlock and I ended up driving 400 miles with a cluncking U-Joint, luckily the thing stayed together.
All I could find from Ford, Napa, Lordco, etcc... were the non-greaseable kind of joints. Since you can't get a grease nipple on the cross, what you would need is grease nipples on the tips of each cross. They would definetely have to be low profile to fit. Besides grease nipples on the cross don't guarantee that all four bearings get grease.
Any help finding greaseable joints would be much appreciated.

Got the front end back together last night. I put in Precision U-Joints. (Part Number 374) They have atleast a grease nipple on the cross which is better than nothing. I am turning into a regular Pro at this. I guess if the engineering thing does not work out I could always become a front end man.
Ideally it would be nice if you could grease each bearing individually as that is the only way to ensure each bearing actully gets grease and any water gets pushed out.
Well it's been close to 10 years since I did the U-Joints on my 93 F250 and it never did get grease nipples, maybe it was just the crappy OEM U-Joints that caused all my problems in the first place.
Last note, prices sure have gone up for parts since I bought them last. I would say atleast 30% to 40%.
