Flowmaster 40 series

I plan to get a set of slow master super 40 series. I hear mixed reviews about them. I like what i've seen though, I have questions tho. is there any particular pipe i need to use. A friend of mine has an h pipe going to his does this help anything.

Well first off, are you running a true dual from your headers/manifolds? If so, the X or H is essential if you want harmonious rhythm from the individual banks from the block. The X or H allows for free flowing distribution of exhaust so the sound at the end of the tailpipes has a nice in sync noise. Without one, it would be like running two differnt motors, and you would notice shotty exhaust and out of sequence backpressure. The Super 40's are nice, that’s what I would buy to. I am sure the other guys have more to contribute, just trying to give you something to work with.

you have duals off the headers but does it go to a y pipe and come out at one exit point?? cuz as 350baby said, if you have true duals all the way to seperate exits, then you are really gunna want a h or x pipe, it not only sounds good but like he said it equalises the backpressure and lets the engine run just that much smoother, youll mos def want one, and it seems that everyone who has a 40 series, and thats a lot of people, like them, personally i have a spintech, and i like it, it sounds different than all the other flowmasters out there

The duals come out at individual exits i don't have the X pipe though . What about magnaflows. I've heard they're all right but i havent really looked into them are there certain sizes to get if so what should i put on a 302?

if you dont have the x or h pipe youll want to put one in when you do the exhaust, i dont know much about magnaflows, but im sure itll sound good, i had a spintech on my 4.2L manual and it actually sounded better on that than on my 5.4L that i have now, so its hard to tell, but pretty much all the major after market companies sound good, borla, magnaflow, flowmaster and spintech, youll prolly want to use 3 inch pipes, thats what i have on mine, sounds excellent, flows well, i dont know much about magna flow stuff
