I have a dana 44 out of a 76' 1/2 ton 4x4, it is a coil front dif. I want to know if the hub and rotor assy off of an 8 lug leaf Dana 44 will bolt up to my 5 lug spindles? I want to put a dana 60 in the rear and want matching 8 lug up front. I would do a dana 60 up front but cannot afford at this time so I fugured I would put 8 lug on my 44.

 

as long as they are both open knuckle axles, then it should be ok, but i believe that you will have to replace the knuckles also in this swap.

 

If your new axle is a ball joint with the 276x u-joints, then the 1/2 ton knuckles will work by just swapping in the 3/4 ton caliper brackets, calipers, spindles, and hubs/rotors. They both share the Ford specific 5 stud spindles. If you can get a set of 3/4 ton knuckles it may be worth it as they are a little beefier than the 1/2's (i.e. thicker material in some spots).
