Guys, I had a F250SD7.3... I had the AIS (High Performance Air INduction System by Motorcraft). I pulled in more air then any K&N, etc. and had 17 times more filtration. Yeah you heard me right 17 times. I did a search and I guess you cannot get it for the gasser engine. I have a 4.6. Have any of you done any research on which one has the best filtration. I want more MPG, torque, hp, and better filtration and most of the CAIs listed in this forum IMO lack filtration. I look forward to hearing some real data. I am sold on the performance of the Brute Force and a few others, but what point is it if you get performance and Check Engine Lights when you are allowing your engine to swallow dirt? Thanks in advance.
You are trying to compare a diesel to a small gas engine for the same intake qualities.
You won't get near the same results.
Do a test by removeing the OEM airfilter and doing a test run in clean air.
If you don't feel much of a difference then no aftermarket intake will do any better.
Filtering dirt is by 'micron' size. The smaller the filter will block the better but there is a trade off with airflow and how fast the filter plugs up.
The only way around this is increasing filter areas but this only extends time to the same conditions.
IMO your thinking of getting more than is possible.
Just change the stock filter more often.
The motor is only a little 281 cu/in and only can flow just so much air.

im wiht Bluegrass. the stock" cheap" system you talk about can make a motor last 300,000 miles. i would say it is adequate for the system. if you like the looks of the aftermarket or want something to talk about, pick one that you like. dont expect "more HP, MPG and performance" just be putting on an air filter.
Hey guys, thanks for your thoughts. The AIS system in the diesels is similar to a factory box, but with a larger vacum of air and at the same time using a paper element. Increased hp, torque, air filtration, etc. It is not about the looks for me, but the performance and filtration. I was hoping that I am with a gasser now I would be able to have an itake system just as stout as the powerstroke. I will look at the specs that lexman gave me.
