Sct

Just purchased the SCT livewire tuner. Real nice HP on the performance setting. I have a Airraid filter and MBRP exhaust also. My truck is showing 15.5 ET on the 1/4 mile estimation. My 04 S Duty extra cab truck is full weight which includes about 500 lbs of tools. What ET's should I see at the track. I can drop the 500 lbs of tools and if I remove spare and tailgate another 100? I am launching in 4 WD and changing to 2 WD after 2nd gear.

Can SCT do a custom tune with just the mods I have now ? Also without going to the laughing gas or propane, what are some other economical mods I can do ? Electric fan, inlet piping changes, injectors ?

I want high 13's

I'm going to imagine your not lifted.. Now because of previous issues in other threads what I am going to say is an opinion..

1. The aftermarket intakes aren't that good.. We have all tested and tested and come to the conclusion that the stock intake it fine until you start pushing over 500hp.. The problem lies in the fact that the open air intakes increase your intake temp which also increase your EGT's. I tested a Quadzilla Monster Air Intake couple weeks ago and I saw an increase of 40* degrees intake temp and my EGT were 1/3 hotter then normal. Now I'm not saying aftermarket intakes are all bad, with the low power you'll put out until Injectors/Turbo are replaced you are better off with the stock intake..

2. Straight exhaust I assume you have.. Depending on MBRP kit.. Thats a plus right there..

3. Get the power intake elbow.. Major improvement in spool time and low-end power and airflow! You have two options here.. Remove the throttle valve and pull the plug (even if it has pins) or leave it.. In my case I left it because I unplugged mine for a week and it screwed everything up. Power Elbow, http://www.dfuser.com/mfg/powerstroke/60/elbow.php

Those are my 3 top changes..

Now custom tunes are a must.. We can build it to be exactly what you want and also disable other things. Transmission pressure can be increased, shift firmness stronger, fueling levels can be altered to give you more fuel to pull more boost. I've seen boost as high as 35# on hot tunes we've been working with.

The theory has been put out about electrical fans but I don't stand with them.. I am set on keeping the engine driven fan for the simple fact these big boys need to be cooled..

Now down the road you slap injectors on you have to run custom tunes.. Custom tuning is the only way you can utilize the full advantages of larger injectors. Due to the fact they completely rewrite your entire PCM/TCM.. Unlike chips which all work after the PCM.

Hope that helps you..

Yes we can do custom tunes for what you have now.. I'm running everything in my sig plus more..

3.5" DP, 4" Exhaust, 6" Tip
Power Elbow
Stock Intake

Testing 2 tunes right now with a 4.5" Lift and 35s and I'm pulling 8s 0-60s with the Eco Tunes and 7s 0-60s with the Street Tune.. These are mild.. We are finishing the Hot tune.. The last Hot Tune I had, never did 0-60 with it.. Should have.. It was crazy.. She would move like no tomorrow with my tires!

Economical and injectors in the same sentence is a funny statement.

Electic fan = total waste of time

Inlet piping = total waste of time (Can replace OEM Throttle body elbow with a power elbow as this will help the flow)

A/M air intake = total waste of time and increases the wear and tear on your engine and turbo. Do yourself a favor and lose the A/M intake and replace it with the OEM Donaldson system. This system provides the best filtration and more air than the engine can use until you get to 500+ Hp.

Get some custom tunes for your SCT they will help even with a stock truck.

You can add injectors, larger intercooler, larger turbo, larger fuel delivery system. But none of these mods are inexpensive. Also you will need ARP headstuds before you add larger injectors, turbo, nitrous, meth or propane.

Go down to the 6.0 & Diesel Competion section of the forums, do search and read, tons of info on this question down there.

Hope this helps

rule of thumb on dragsters 1\10 sec per 100 lbs
