i finally finished installing the superchips propane kit..
the kit seems to work really well, i have yet to break 1100* egt's, of course thats with an empty truck. the only problem i have found is that MSD's tech support is terrible..
i have a dp-tuner, and with the tuner set on 80 ecno and when the propane kicks in there is just way to much power, i can reach 100mph at less than half throttle, quickly....(propane set at 30%) , my question is what do you guys think about getting the 40ecno tune and making power mostly from propane? would there be a noticable gain in milage going to the 40hp tune? what about engine life using propane that often?

Have you called Jody and Diane? Jody does propane tuning also.(according to the website)
i dont know why people call propane drugs...my truck seems to like it, it runs real quite and smooth as glass when the pane comes on....but i'm afraid to use any more than a very little shot....
Miller... how does the cost comparison go for your propane usage? Have you done the cost analysis at various dosage levels in terms of mileage improvements? Is it saving you money or just giving more ponies?

it really seems to save fule.. i have an hour commute to work and have had 1/4 tak since thursday...thats about 4 hours of mixed highway/intown on less than 1/4 tank..
does that kit inject liquid or vapor into the system
if vapor how many btu or cu/ft does it inject per (insert measurement time, second, minute) activation...this will help in determining how much it costs per activation...91,690 btu per gallon of lp...or 36.39 cu/ft per gallon also

lp ignition temperature in air is 920-1020 with max flame temp being 3595 deg far so be careful
just curious...i've heard about propane injection systems and owning a propane company have never messed with one...prob should learn a little more about them...i know about the propane stuff just not spraying it into a truck engine
Track it for several tanks? I don't think anybody has done a decent cost analysis. This may be my next mod as well, and I'd love some better data.
A few years ago I read a post on TDS about mileage gains with propane. The jist of it is that the propane will give you better mileage, but not quite offset the cost of the propane.
The propane supposedly is a catalyst that will allow more of the diesel to burn as well as burn itself.
I had heard that the mileage increase would be profitable as long as the price of propane was less than the price of diesel, but I wonder if that holds true across the full spectrum of injection rates.
Sounds pretty sweet to me if you can get it tuned and leave alone. Same with nitrous. If you are safe and propane almost pays for itself and you get a hp increase... sounds fun.
