Hey guys im looking into getting the Livewire for my 2006 f350. I want to get this instead of the Xcal2 and guages. However, i have heard that there are some problems with the tuner. Whats the latest? Also can Livewire be setup to read EGT's yet? Last question, im not a big racer type guy, i just tow a trailer and quads, and want some good power increases and tranny shifting. Will i be satified with the canned tunes or do i need the custom tune setup?
Only person i know running the "Livewire" is Storm, everyone else abandoned it. Matt won't have them in his shop.
If you want electronic gauges instead of mechanical, you can always run a Quadzilla monitor with the SCT XcalII. Matt even sells this setup.
I cannot answer your question if you would be happy with canned tunes, but i do not know why you wouldn't want custom tunes and all the benefits of having a tune custom programmed for your truck and driving style.
Give Matt a call and talk to him about the SCT XcalII and custom tunes. He will also tell you the problems with the "Livewire"
I do have a livewire and it has few quirks but it's getting better.. I'm one of the few that didn't have the screen go out.. Nor has it left me stranded.. I had a situation where I lost my stock file but SCT was able to recover it no problem.. Me and the Mad Scientist (dfuser) are hacking out Tunes right now.. I've tested 6 tunes so far since we were given the green light to go.. So far 1st 3 were major improvement over Stock/Factory Tunes.. The Hot tune had my 4.5" lift and 35's moving.. The new set of 3 tunes I'm testing is even better.. Its somewhat of a Eco, Street and Hot..
I've heard the rants and raves from what the Livewire did to folks.. It hurts to see them go through it but luckily I haven't had that happen.. So I can only speak for myself.. I know one buddy on here had his screen go capunk and some other weird anomalies.
