Steering box leak help! PIC

Well leaving work today I noticed some fluid under my truck. The levels were ok so I got home and took the shield off underneath and it looks like it is coming from the bottom of the stearing box. I have a picture so you can see. Do you think I need to replace the box or maybe the arm(I think that is the pitman arm) it looks like there is a decent gap there but I don't know what it usually looked like.

Thanks,
Adam

thanks ultramagdan

anyone know if there is supposed to be a seal between the pitman arm and the gearbox? Or is the seal inside the gearbox?

The seal is in the box and the pitman arm has to come off. I have same issue and have been just adding PS fluid until I get a chance to do it. The seal kit from Dealer was cheap, like 20 bucks I think. Seal is held in with C clip I believe after arm is off.

thanks for your response. At 200k I'm thinking about replacing the box. I unbolted everything last night, but I can not get the pitman arm off the box or the other end. I am going to replace the pitmanarm while I am in there but it is a real PITA. There has to be an easy way. I am borrowing an air hammer tonight that may help? If you have any suggestions I am open to them.

obviously this isn't too common as not many people know too much on the topic. I guess a 6" lift 35" and 200k were just too much for mine huh? Well the box and arm are out and I am just replacing them since they didn't come apart to easy. Hopefully things go back together well tonight.

With the box and arm off, just take it to a local machine shop. Have them pull off the pitman arm, replace the seal and reassemble it. Good luck.
