We just made it in from Knoxville. Had a great time at the Nats and met many fine folks. Its always good to put faces to some of the names we see on the site daily.
Looks like the Nats are slowly dying out, less trucks and vendors than last year. If gas prices continue to climb, may not be realistic for any of us to make the trip. When I left home regular was $2.75 and I looked as I came into town this afternoon, it was $3.24 a gallon!! Thats $.49 cents in 10 days!
Again, I had a great time and hope to see all of you again someday.
Welcome back! How did the Dawg run? When's the AC going back online?
Thanks Nuthin. The Dawg ran out well, got an average of 8.25 MPGs on the round trip.(should have gotten better, but I was impressed with how it pulled the hills after I turned up the fuel slightly ) That's comparable to most of the boys pulling with the F350s with diesel engines, with that load. But I'm riding in air-ride comfort!
Update on the A/C, a friend came by while I was gone and had some great news. The wires that I thought were the main power wires for the compressor were only wires for the thermal cut-out switch(which on this one is not replaceable) He hooked the wires together and I have A/C again.
I got all sorts of ideas for my 53, now to get caught up so I can put some of them to use.
Good to hear you had a great time and safe trip. I'm looking forward to the Western Nats on June 23. I don't think it's so much the gas that there was fewer trucks, vendors etc. Last year, if you recall, was the 50th Anniversary of the 56 F100. The Supernationals, made a big deal on advertising and promoting last years events. This year, I didn't hear much about the Supernationals, and actually had no clue that they were last weekend! It would be a real same if the Nats start dying out. I swore to myself that I had to attend the event once, just to say I did it. If there is not that many participants, it may not be worth making that trip. I do agree with you on the gas prices though.
