4 barrels

i want to get a four barrel carb for my truck. right now i have a two barrel holley will swapping to a 4 kill me in mpg? and if i do get a 4 barrel what size and type should i get? my truck has a 302 with an edlebrock 289 intake.

This forum is for YEAR Specific differences in the 73-79 Trucks compared to Other year trucks

Your question has nothing to do with a 73-79 truck but everything to do with a V-90* engine and fuel delivery.

A 4 barrel might help your mileage if you stay out of the secondaries. The primaries on a 4 barrel are smaller then a standard 2 barrel's barrels, thus putting less gas in to get the work done. You need to check the stats out on a carb before you buy it though.

I like the old 4100s, but you have your choice. Try to stay no bigger then a 600, but I wouldn't go much over 500 on a basicly stock 302.
