I saw this engine in local junk yard. It is bigger to be a Windsor (I think). Most notable are the engine mounts - completely different than 302 I have. Another think that looked different is the spark plug lay out. If I remember right, the passenger of my 302 all spark plugs slant to towards the front, while all plugs in the drivers side slant towards the cab. But in this engine, on each side, two slants towards the cab and two towards the front. I took some pictures with my phone, but haven't been able to download them yet. I will post some once I can.
Do you guys have any idea what engine this could be? Is there any place with engine references (and perhaps pictures) to identify engines?

-There are other indicators but these are enough to distinguish engine families.
i have a 1979 ford ambulance converted to a work truck looking for a 460 engine and when they ask internal or external balance i dont know how can i tell what i have
Not too familiar with the 460's, but im building one and starting to read up on them a bit....
I think that up until 79 all 460's were internally balanced. After 79 they were external balanced.
Look for weights on your flexplate, if it has weights, it is an external balance engine. Also look at the spacer that is behind your harmonic balancer , if it is just a round sleeve type spacer, it is an internal balance engine... if it is a round spacer with a weight on it (some say it looks like a hatchet) then it is external balance.
