Starter Location 91 Ford Bronco
I know this is a stupid question but I just want to make sure. Is the starter located underneath the truck on the passenger side by the 02 sensor and the transmission. I believe it is the black cylinder that is bolted onto the tranny. Is this correct?
Thanks for all your responses

Paul,
Thanks for the information! Here's the situation. Today, when starting the truck, the starter makes a "whine" it never did before. The volt-meter on the dash has not changed so I believe the battery is still OK so I am assuming that the starter is starting to go out on me. What do you think? The car still starts it just takes a bit longer to start up and once started everything is as it should be!
Thanks again for the help!

Patrick ,
Before you condem the starter verify the battery is ok , Have it load tested . Next check both cables for corrosion . Internal corrosion is not always visible , you have to closely inspect the cables . The Negative battery cable that goes down to the starter also bolts to the frame , the cable is bare where it bolts to the frame ...this is often a place where corrosion starts . Always start with the basics and work your way to more labor intensive problems . This will make sure you solve the problem the first time w/o spending money unnessecarily on parts that aren t defective .
