I am new to the deisel world but just bought a 01 250 7.3 SC. I was curious about the hubs. The dealer told me you only have to turn them in when you go to 4low. I have the selector on the dash, not on the floor.

you don't need to turn them even in 4lo, they lock in with a vacumm pulse when you turn the dial on the dash to 4hi or 4lo.

Consider replacing them with the WARN Premiums. They are a lot nicer than the stock ones, but you will have to modify the hubcap if you use it.
