351w sludge problem... HELP!!!
Do your own research, but I have used this stuff before. It work very well for me and I have used it in several vehicles. You have to follow the directions to the letter, but it works.

gonna go change it now, bye for now .... thanks for the help
my brother had a 2.9 out of a ranger I gave him and the sludge was so bad in the lifter valley that he stuck a long screwdriver in it and it stood up straight (he has a pic on a photo site but it's down).....the oil pan was the same way and so was the valve covers. there is no way i would put anything into a motor that would loosen all the sludge up while I was running it. He took it apart and pressure washed it put new rod and main bearings along with a oil pump and he has been driving it for the past few years......just can't see loosening up all that built up stuff in the engine just leave it where it is, it's not hurting a thing. Plus there is a good chance that stuff is holding chunks of valve seals from getting into the oil sump. I have never seen any good coming from running any kind of cleaner thru an engine you need to keep it clean to begin with......
If you try and clean it make sure you have a good working oil pressure gauge and keep your eye on it...oil filters will clog fast and leave you with no pressure........
hey try this clean the valve covers and take all the sludge and mix it into a pail with some oil....nice stuff.....now dump it into your motor.
If it's not broke don't fix it........
My 2 cents...OK I'm done.......Sorry......

my f350's engine failed due to that sludge crap so dont just say leave it where it is
I didnt put anything in there to loosen it up, and now I aint got no truck to drive,
when we took it apart you could stand the lifter rods up like flag poles in the stuff..............

they do wear out.
Sucks for you though......
so do you think it would have lasted any longer if you had put something inside it to loosen that sludge up?
The only way to clean that kind of build up is to take the valve covers, intake, oil pan off and steam clean it.

welll .... the miles are surprizingly low don't know off hand, BUT..... it's an ex city truck seats 6 (sleeps 4) haha, Hours upon hours of idling I guess
I think it would have lasted alot longer if that crap wasnt in it, but the motor im tryin to clean out now doesn't have chunks like the truck had
My dad used to use the kerosine trick back in the day every other oil change for the life of the engine, and when hed take em apart they'd look brand new.... But then that was the entire life of the engine...sooo I guess thats different....Just my spare change in thoughts.....
