I purchase a 2003 Excursion XLT 4X4 a couple weeks ago. I have the factory installed DVD player and the wireless head phones do not work. I replaced the batteries in the headset and they still don’t work. I took it back to the dealer and the service manager grabbed some new ones and they did not work either. He told me that some of the factory DVD players do not come with the wireless head phones and you are supposed to use the wired ones.
My question was to him was why did the Excursion come with them when I bought it? He did not know why but gave me 2 cheap wired headphones and sent me on my way. I have a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty and was thinking about taking it to another dealer. Is it true that some of these DVD players are not wired for wireless headphones? Should I insist on an a electrician take a look at it? I tried posting this in the audio section but did not have a response and hardly any traffic. Thanks for any help!<O
Yes, earlier Excursion (I don't know the year cut-off) had wired headsets. Why yours included the wireLESS ones is beyond me. Do the wired ones now work?
1 good thing about the wired ones. You can add splitters from Radio Shack to the headsets to add more headsets. Wired ones are cheaper, too.
The wired ones do work. I just thought it was strange that it came with the wireless ones and on my oasis report it showed the dealer replaced the wireless headphones and the remote about a year ago. I thought I would ask. Thanks for the reply. I will run it by a different dealer to see what thier electrician has to say. Thanks again.
try turning on the radio and pressing (at the same time the 2 +4 button) to DUAL PLAY on the radio read out. or maybe its the 3+4. Fool with it a while. There is also a dvd disable while pushing two buttons at the same time.
