I recently picked up a delphi Skify2 XM reciever with vehicle kit and in home stereo for cheap at my neighbors garage sale and I absolutely love it, its great!
just wondering who on here has satellite radio, and which they prefer.
I had gotten XM when they first came out. Went through several head units over the years. The Skifi 2 was the best IMHO. Then XM double dipped my account three months in a row, each time taking a about a week to sort out. I finaly said goodby and tried Sirius. I now wish that i had switched years ago. Programming is just so much better. XM about a year ago let Clearchannel Comunications do thier music programing. Thats when it went to h*ll in a hand basket.
I talked to a customer sales rep at corperate for Sirius and asked when wil the two lineups be combined now that the two have merged and was told somewhere between september 07 and the first of the year. I hope i will be able to use my SkiFi 2 head unit again with sirius programing.
Well, that sucks about the double dipping, but hopefully everything is better now. I really like the Skifi2 and I think its one of the better units i have seen out of all my friends.
I havent heard about the merger, what all is going on with that?
I have already ready through that thread, but it died about a half a year ago, and hopefully now somebody can chime in with some information on a possible merger if they have it.
peoples opinions can change in 6 months, just seeing what people prefer, oddly though, the other thread was in a F150 section, I figured general discussion would be better suited for it.
I have Sirius and love it, I've listened to XM quite a bit too...but I don't like as much. I listen mostly rock and stand up comedy, and Sirius has much better choices in that department...but if you're a country fan, I think you'll like Xm better. As far as news, talk, and sports, I have no idea...I don't listen to, or care anything about that stuff.
Do you guys think the merger will actually happen? Will the FCC allow it? The FCC didnt allow Direct TV and Dish Network to merge. They are against monopolies of corporations providing services like this. I wonder how it will all pan out.
Ive got xm and love it expect for the billing, they manage to **** that up every few months. A phone call usually straightens it out.
one time they actually owed me money (had a credit) and the lady calls me and asks how I'd like to take cae of my negitive 67 dollar balance, as I'd have to do so before they turned my unit on (I was listening to it at the time...hehe) I then toild her sahe could pay ME via check or cash, she didn't understand and told me I'd have to talk to billing..... I said ok sounds good, and hung up....
I have xm in the Tbird and am getting another kit for the truck if i keep it, just for those times that i am out and about. gas is so high that i hardly drive the truck, but it is cheap. btw, i have a skyfi (the original with the red backlighting) that i got off of ebay for 20 bucks, and have never had a bit of problem with it.
i had XM in the ranger i just got tired of losing signals under bridges and all and i was being cheap and not wanting to pay $35 every three months for radio
i have the sirius IN-V radio. the kids gave it to me for christmas after hearing me complain for the past 2 years that there is no country radio in the metro NY area.
it is almost idiot proof, and very small 1/4 x 3 x 6.
i put a piece of velcro on the back of the unit, and have it setup so it goes in whatever vehicle i am driving. 3 plugs, and i am set.
I had XM for a while and loved it. I had the same problem as Westtntrucker though with them double dipping. They wont connect you without a credit card number and after they have your card number the feel they have carte blanche with your account and you cant get anywhere to try to fix it. I just said to heck with them and never worried about pay radio again.
