i have a 2003 f-350 7.3 diesel with 85000 miles on it. I ask 1 time about a knock under the left valve cover and some guys told me it was probably the number 8 injector. Which i have lost a lot of power since then i cant pull the trailer i hall as good as i use too i was wondering if it was just the injectors or something else but the truck seems run fine besides that 1 little knock under the left valve cover i guess my question is will warranty cover injectors or do i need to check in to that something else may be wrong
Pull the valve cover in question and check the rocker arm pedastals, make sure the bolts that hold them down are tight.
Look for a bent push rod as well.
I've read here and over at the 'stop that sometimes the roller on the lifter gives up.
That may be your noise, but more commonly it's just an injector shooting air bubbles.
2 common causes of power loss are exhaust leaks from the uppipes and boost leaks from the 6 boots on the compressor side of the turbo (2 orange below the intake spider 2 between the turbo and intercooler (hot side) and 2 between the intercooler and intake spider(cold side))
