What would a 1979 F-350 supercab 4x4 be worth? It has a 460, was a factory 400, auto with a decent steel flatbed. The body is in good shape but the interior needs some help, mechanically it is supposed to be in good condition.
That is why a competent professional appraiser must be used. He can see, feel, hear, and smell, all aspects of the vehicle and then use his professional knowledge to produce an appraisal. We can't do any of that here. All we can do is throw out BS numbers.

I just go by the local market... or whatever Ebay has them for... which I believe on a lot of stuff is much higher then it should be.
Like when I lived in Maine, a NICE rust free 73-79 Ford (OK, rust free anything) would bring WAY more money then in say, Southern Cali.
If it's got low mileage, high level trim and some interesting options, it'll be worth far more then a stripper. Then again, you might get more money from the parts.
In all honesty, its worth exactly what you are willing to pay for it...I certainly wouldnt think that flatbed is a collectors item or anything like that. If its one of those deals where the person selling it wont offer a price because he "doesnt know what its worth". Well, offer him a thousand bucks and go from there.
