ok when i go to purchase a headlight light switch at the local parts place, they as me the serial # on the vin, but whats the difference between the two? i have a 1974 f250....can i use the other one in place of the one that matches the vin? oh yeah, heres the scoop, i went to take my truck to the cruzin and i realized the taillights were not working... checked the fuse, its ok...the headlights work, as well as the brakelights...after checking all the connections, bulbs and visible wires for shorts, no luck....heres something wierd, when i hit the brakelights, the tag lights glow a pale orange color...how is this possible???

That is a clue, BAD GROUNDS!

ok, well it think i figured out the prob with the taillights...after i checked and cleaned the grounds...but i have a new prob...the pass brake light does not work.... im not getting signal from the connector coming out of the firewall...im thinking the ts switch....
Here is the schematic of the 78 TS switch to show how everything is connected.
The difference with yours is you don't have the hazard light switch on the column.
