Well they are just above the 10% Norm.... at 173#'s at the high t most you would only want a 17.3# difference... But that still would account for the oil soaked cylinder..
Well Kurt could have a point there...about the top end over oiling...I dont use umbrella seals..I use have the guides cut for PC seals..but not everyone does..
I once bought a motor from a guy ...392" hemi..and the guy was stright up and told me it smoked..upon tear down I found tht the valve seals were bad on a few cylinders.. and I did a complete head job..ran the motor in a 54 ford f100 for 3 years with no looking back..
Is this an automatic trans? I think the tranny modulator hooks to the intake in that area....Is the motor oil dropping? Mine used a bunch of oil when the guides/seals were bad.......If an auto, look inside the vacuum hose at the intake, any trans fluid? Should be dry..........And I agree about the PC seals over the umbrella type.........aMP
adjustable rockers? I have the teflon guide seals with the little springys...after about 50,000 miles I installed adjustable rockers, everything had been fine but all of a sudden I started eating oil...lots-o-oil. I read here about needing the 3 finger oil returns, got a pair, and now we're dry and smooth again.
