I installed my 3 pillar gauge pod last night. Everything went good with the install. After supper, took the truck to town to eat supper and noticed the lighting on the pyro gauge looked different than the rest. Looked at the gauge closer and noticed it didn't have glass in it. I can reach in and touch the needle. Wondering if you guys ever got one like that?? Do you know if you can install just the glass? They are the Autometer Ultra-lites. Thanks guys, Jamie
Yup, someone at autometer wasnt very good at the inspection on that gauge(every autometer gauge i have bought has somewhere on it inspected sticker). Take that gauge back.
Sometimes i eat 2 suppers if i dont get enough at the first one...

HaHa!!! Oops on the eating twice thing. Maybe I should proofread before I post. I was a little flustered, I've been saving up for gauges and when I finally get them in, this happens. Later guys, Jamie
Reminds me of a friend of mine -- his wife was making him nice healthy meals, you know, salad, steamed veggies, etc... Well, he'd go "run errands" after dinner and get a nice fat cheeseburger at the drive through because the "rabbit food" wasn't filling him up. His wife could never figure out why he ended up gaining weight after she started him on his "healthy diet".
On my EGT gauge, the glass face is the first item installed in the assembly process, as it's inserted into the shell from the rear and crimped into place. The way I discovered this was in disassembling my gauge after a car wash guy pushed the glass face back into the needle as he was cleaning it.
How an EGT gauge could be assembled, packaged, shipped, unwrapped, and installed with no glass face, and still work, is totally beyond my comprehension, as that needle and mechanism are extremely delicate!
What brand are your gauges? This one seems to be working correctly. It reads about 600-700 at 65 mph and goes up to about 1000 when I accelerate hard.

Mine are US Gear, and the glass face is inserted into the empty shell from the rear and a crimp ring holds it in place against the undersized front bezel. Even though I was trying to be gentle in taking it apart I wound up breaking the needle and had to buy a replacement.
Your EGT numbers look like the gauge is working ok, but those needles are so delicate that if even so much as a fly runs into it, it'll probably get bent.
