Programer/Chip

Whats the best chip/programmer for a 2000-2002 7.3 PSD? Not pushing this truck hard (maybe pulling 3000 lbs. boat if I ever get the time). Don't want to go so extreem that I need to watch EGRs if I don't want to. Looking for better mpg and of course a few more ponies. Oh yeah, its a auto if that makes a differance.

From what I've read/learned around here the DP tuner is the only way to go. That's the direction I'll be going in once the guages, intake and exhaust are in.

Well, you need gauges first. That way you have a baseline for diagnosis should you have mechanical problems in the future.

Like aklim said, get you some good gauges first. This will allow you to monitor your progess. Sometimes, just tighting a few loose clamps will give you some extra ponies. Oh yeah, my next investment will be a DP tuner.

Boost gauge help me diagnose what I thought was EBPV engaging when it wasn't. I could not go over 15 psi and I heard a hissing sound similar to the EBPV going off in the winter. Since it was cold then, I thought it was the EBPV going but when the boost would not go past 15 psi, well, we knew something was wrong since I have made 24 momentarily before the engine defueled.

The crossover hoses were loose. The ones with the orange boots that feed the heads.

Those are commonly called the "CAC Tubes". I fairly regularly put a screwdriver on them to make sure they're tight. When I first got my truck, I had the standard oil on the top & back of the engine -- CCV mod and tightening all the CAC tube clamps cleaned it up...
