I removed my turbo and pedestal to change orings and fix oil leak. As it turns out, my ebpv actuator in the pedestal is leaking. Called Ford and they don't have the repair kit but at 180 bucks (completely rediculous + I was able to look up the part number on the web before the idiot at Ford could even understand what I needed, ended up providing him with the part #), I don't want it anyway. I live in Houston and don't think I need the ebpv. Now the questions:
1. If I understand the operation correctly, the oil would not actuate the ebpv (and leak out the end) if I simply unplug the electrical lead to the servo in the pedestal. Right?
2. Any harm in leaving the solenoid unplugged?
3. Do I just wire the ebpv open or completely remove it from the turbo?
Well Steve, while we wait, and there is some disagreement, it seems the trend now is that disabling the EBPV is a bad idea although I am entirely muddy about what role this plays in the PCM program for running the engine.
I wish there was a solid answer on this. As for the leak, I would either repair it or delete the EBPV function and make sure I plugged it so oil could feed the turbo. I have done neither and will await someone who has. Have you tried to source new seals elsewhere?
I think if we could get Jody in on this one we'd have the details we need. The question then becomes, is DP Tuner watching this thread? Or has someone addressed this issue with them in sufficient detail that they could share with us?
Oh, that may have been it, thanks Gene. Still not sure why though.
As I understand it, the EBPS does double duty, it controls the EBPV, and independent of that, real time back pressure data is also used in two fueling tables in the stock PCM tune, and Jody modifies these tables as part of his tuning.
I tried the IH dealer and they said they had no way of looking up the part I need since they only supply the engine. Said they could only help me with a CPS. Seemed odd, a lot of guys on here come up with IH equivalent parts. Wonder how they go about getting the parts?

Well they say that because of an agreement with Ford not to undercut them. If you had told them the EBPV assembly on your T444e was leaking I bet he would find a part.

Agreed. I try to get parts from my IH dealer rather than Ford. If I mention the word Powerstroke to them, they are either clueless or not very willing to help. However, telling them I'm working on a T444E gets me what I need every time. If they ask, tell them it's in a box truck or something of the sort.

BINGO!! Sometimes it's what's NOT said that matters most. Call another IH dealer that's not too far from you and do as TENN suggested. They'll be able to get you the part#, and that you can take to your local IH dealer, or just order it from the guy/gal on the phone and have it shipped to your door.

Depending on what is leaking, you might be able to fix it with the kit. In my case, it was the pedestal that was leaking so even when I put the kit in, it didn't work and still leaked. I got another pedestal and it leaked again. Finally the next pedestal fixed it. Talked to a woman who said she had to replace 3 pedestals before they found one that didn't leak.
i need to find a repair kit for the EBPV..mine is leaking..where can i find this kit?? i have a late 99 Pedestal..thanks guy's
Take my above post into consideration before you go too far. I would say you are going to need to get it either at the Fraud Dealership for International.
