well first off you're going to have the cost of the lift itself .. depending on brand you can expect to pay $900 to $2500 for a 4" to 6" .. most will come with shocks, but if not, you will need new shocks as well. You get what you pay for in a lift. If it's an 05 or newer (coils) consider Rize or Donahoe. If it's an 04 or older, look at Donahoe, Skyjacker, or FabTech. You'll also pay a little more for a full 4 leaf lift as opposed to front leafs and back blocks. Be sure to check what the installation cost will be for the lift.
Next you need to consider that you'll want to change wheels and tires. Again, depending on what you go with 4" or 6" will dictate that. Generally 35's for 4" and 37's for 6". 35's are going to run you in the neighborhood of $250.00 to $400 per tire, and 37's a little more. If you want you can use your stock wheels. But if you're really going to do it, do it right and get wheels you like better than stock.
If you go with a 6" , you should be able to do it without modifying your drive line, brake lines, etc... but if you have a 3:73 rear end, you'll also want to consider re-gearing for those 37" tires. Remember, 4 wheel drive means re-gear front and rear. Re-gearing front and rear will probably run you somewhere in the $1500.00 range.

TNT is right. There are a ton of variables. There are literally 1000s of different ways to set up a truck with a 4" or 6" lift that can run you from say $3000 to $8000.
GEEZE! I had no idea! Fortunately it is 2 wheel drive. Yes tires cost about $250 each cause I just bought two. I would be replacing 6. What about a body lift? Cheaper?
I can't justify lifting a 2wd.. But each to its own.. Just don't let your wife think that a 4 or 6" lift will help her get through low areas.. It surely won't help.. I burried my truck in a mud slick the day after I bought her.. I went into it in 2wd and she stopped.. The mud wasn't even deep..
As for lifts.. Donahoe all the way.. I don't care what peeps say, they have been great to me and I absolutely LOVE my lift.. I have the 4.5" Shackle lift and DR Shocks.. It's amazing.. I took a corner at 75 mph and she not once oversteered or rolled on me.. Wasn't my choice to take the corner, I kinda made a ball call there..
Holler at TruckToyz Performance in McAllen.. They are our sponsors here and the expect on lift kits!
I agree donahoe racing is the way to go. and personally i wouldnt put a body lift on because i think they look hideous cause they leave gaps between the frame and the body which are very noticable also they leave gaps between your bumper and you body. My '01 super duty isnt lifted much yet but i threw sum nice mud tires under it and it goes great offroad and in the mud bogs.
She doesn't want the lift for clearance, she wants it because it looks tough. I can see where a body lift will leave gaps and I WILL NOT do it. Maybe I will gather parts and spend a weekend doing the job but I was told a company in Lufkin will do the job for $500. Of course, this is a friend's friend's shop. We'll have to see. Planning on taking the truck up in a week and see. If I get it for $500 I'm doing it!
I got mine though 4 Wheel Parts (Procomp) and am happy with it. It's probably not the best lift acording to others in this site. But I love it and works fine for me. Mines a 6.5 with new rear springs and 6 way ajustable shocks. 2 years ago when looking around for the lift I paid $1,100 for everything. Yes, I did jew them down but that was out the door. The ride is alittle rougher than stock but it's a truck. I installed the lift myself, and was not hard. I took about a day and a half. You just need some tall jack stands. The tire are the most expensive part. I fot mine on sale and payed $300 each and the rims were I think around $150 each. Tires have gone up now though, same ones now are around $425. If you stay with 35" it will be less, but once you go over35"s the price goes sky high with them.
One other thing, You say it's a PSD I have'nt regeared and have'nt needed to. If I was wheeling hard yes I would. Someday I might but for now it's fine. I have 3:73 Sorry bout the speeling, as I didn't look after typing in the dark.
