I rebuilt mine last summer, I do not use any oil between oil changes which are at 3,000 mile intervals.
I have about 15,000 miles on the rebuild now.

When I first started running the engine after the rebuild, I did use a quart or two every 1500 miles.
At around 10,000 miles the oil consumption dropped to almost nothing,

My 7.3 started using oil quite a bit all of a sudden. After conferring with the great guys on this forum, I replaced my CDR and problem solved.
