Trannie Slip

I have been reading the posts for the past few months and I must say I think this message list is fantastic. question I have an 88 Eddie Bauer bought it a few months ago 78,000 mi. every once in a while i will get a thump when shifting into either reverse or drive from park. I just started noticing the other day a hesitation in shifting into first gear from a stop. The fluids were just checked and are lean and full. Any Clues ??? TIA

This is probably not tranny slip. Believe it or not, you need to grease the driveshaft slip yoke. It's at the rear of the DS...there is a grease nipple on my 84...if you don't have one on your 88, drop the rear of the DS and load the slip yoke with good quality grease (don't be shy) this cleared up my klunk immediately. There may be other postings in this BB about the same thing.
