When I turn my key on before starting it it make a weird noise almost like a burping or growling noise for a second or two. Can anyone please tell me what this is??? Thanks
it is probably the vacum pump unrer the hood passengers side it cycles at start up to provide vacum to run youre climate controll vacum servo motors & is completely normal if it runns for more than20 or 30 seconds or youre a/c will not come out of the dash vents look at the servo motor under the hood passengers side next to the a/c reciver & plug the hose back into the middle of it a pretty common problem.
It sounds like a burp that is coming out of my intake. It only lasts like one second. I do have a aftermarket intake on it if that would have anything to do with it.
I just bought the truck about a month ago and only noticed it do it once or twice when i was programming my truck. Then It went into the dealor and i got it back last week and it has been doing it every time i turn the key on.

The aftermarket intake has alot to do with it. You are hearing the VVT blades cycling. They do this to prevent sticking blades and as a self test at startup. This was incorporated into the later PCM flashes from FMC.
Do to the larger openings in the A/M filter media, it is eaier to hear this noise and you will also be able to more easily hear "turbo fart" when chopping the throttle off under heavy load.
FYI
A/M air intakes are bad news on the 6.0 they are hard on the Turbo (do to dusting) and increase wear on the engine, from all the extra dust and dirt they allow into the engine. The factory Dondaldson System is the best system for filtration on the market and will supply more air than the 6.0 can use until you exceed 500+HP (this takes more than just a tuner to achieve).
Bottom line the noise you are hearing is normal, and ditch the A/M intake and re-install the factory unit.
