Order Update?

I was just wondering, when and how did you find out when your truck was being built and deilvered? My dealer called me on thursday march 24, and told me he got the word that the truck was being built. But he didn't have a delivery date. Does that seem right? Is he just pulling this out of his a$$? My order was faxed from the dealer to FORD on march 16. Does the dealer get any written notice about the trucks birth? I am sure this is all so repetitive, but I can not sit still waiting for it. Luckly I will have my honeymoon in Hawaii to take my mind off of it for must of june!!!

I was told by my dealer what the build date was. I went onto blueovalforums.com and got updates on my truck. You will need to get the vin # from your dealer for them to get you the info. I was even able to get my window sticker already. I ordered mine on April 14th and it is supposed to be built next tuesday.

Well I made the trip to ky, the truck is awesome, I had a hard time keeping it below 70 for the 1000 mile break-in (actually went to 75). Now the news, I averaged 15.4 on the first tank, 16.5 on the second and17.2 on the last, computed on the lie o meter and with a calculator. Needless to say I am very happy with these #s, and it will only get better!! The price of diesel seems to be about 30 cents a gallon cheaper than gas, so the cost factor is even better. I LOVE this truck!!

I also saw some posts that the DRW were taking longer to get. I think that trucks that deliver them are part of the delay. You can only fit one DRW on the car carrier. I recall someone posting that they were told 3 months for their F350 DRW that they just ordered a week or two ago.
Interesting. That may have been me. I ordered the first week of April and was told 10-12 weeks for delivery. Then I changed the exterior color from silver to gold and was told that tacked on 2 more weeks even though I hadn't ever received a build date at that point.

So right now it looks like I'll be taking delivery of my F450 around the end of June.

Meanwhile I'll be monitoring this thread to see how y'alls trucks are coming in.

Well I went to the dealer today and asked him about the vin number. He said they don't have that yet and usually don't recieve the VIN until the vehicle is listed in there inventory. But when I asked him if they got the build date he told me again that the truck is being built. It doesn't take 4 days to build a truck. He still could not get me a delivery date. I really think because the don't order many vehicles that they don't know the procedure to get this info. Is there a way I can find out from ford with out the vin?

Superduty_08, your dealer MUST know the status of your vehicle, mine gave me an update every Friday. I had the vin# within 2 weeks of ordering, and they were on the money with all the info, they even told me where it was located while on the train coming through Atlanta. It was scheduled to be delivered on the 21st but they were able to move it up to the 18th. Stay on your dealers A##, make them make it happen!!!!

They get the VIN when it gets scheduled to be built. This would be at least a few weeks before it is built.

My dealer kept checking a printout... must be something from a FORD tracking system?

As of today, truck is still waiting for a rail car. New delivery date is June 4 but that is unlikely since it takes 12-14 days by rail to get here.

I ordered an F350 Lariat DRW CC the first week of March and had a partial vin# the second day. The truck was built the week of May 14th and has made it to a rail yard last Thursday in Manville Tx., to be shipped to the dealer located in Houston. The dealer expects delivery to be by the end of next week. Just hope ONE of the guys that want to buy my '03 SD comes up with the coins before next week! And I especially hope this '08 lives up to all the hype in Ford's markting media.

Well I just got back from my 2 week vacation and I called the dealer today about my trucks order status. Again I told that they haven't heard anything on the truck. No build date, no vin, nothing. They told me that they are going to make some phone calls to see if they can get more info and track this truck. This is crazy!!! Everyone on here has been able to find out all this info sooner than this. My order was recieved on march 16....excatly 1 month ago. Some people have even taken order of their trucks in this time. I will call back on thursday and nag them more.

Thats about the best thing you can do, is just to stay on them until they get the information that you are requesting.

Are you sure they ordered the truck for you? Ask to see some paperwork that shows they did it, they should have a file on you which will have a computer generated order form, there is something amiss here and I would be talking to the general manager of the dealership, you might want to contact another Ford dealer and ask them how long the process takes through them and also copy the pages from this forum and show them to the g.m. and let him know that this is not normal!!
