Slow leak...

Hi guys,

I have just bought a new battery and installed, already it is dead. I never seem to have trouble with the battery when it's running. I left the battery cables on last night for about 3 hours then disconected. This morning the battery was dead. I don't even know where to start looking for a short.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be or where to start looking?

If it will kill a new battery in 3 hrs........something is drastically wrong!
If the voltage regulator is stuck on it will drain the battery, and that would be a pretty good draw. Nothing else I would think could drain a battery that fast.

Take a test light, put it in SERIES with one of the battery cables. If you are unhooking the NEG, then use the test light between cable and battery. It should be GLOWING. Go around and start unplugging things or take fuses out and wait til the light goes out. That will be the circuit with the drain.

What year/model is the truck?
