Diesel engine list

Im looking to complie or for a ready made list of all the major diesel engines made. from CAT, Cummins, Detroit, IH, Ford, etc...for a friend of mine. these would be tractor engines and/or over the road trucks...and when they were made

i looked and looked but came up empty.

thanx.

My suggestion for you is go to a library that is fairly large n look thru reference books. Thats what I did to find gas engines that I couldnt find much on over the internet. mainly check the Medium & heavy truck chiltons or motors manuals, I have a chiltons medium & heavy book n Cummins alone lists 89 differnt models for Diesel for early-mid 60's i think til 1971 when the book was made. You have ALOT of engines coming your way when you find the books. It doesnt really tell me production years though just the specifications but maybe whatever books you come across may have the years. Other than that you will have to keep searching the internet if ya want a ready made list unless you find a variety of books about diesels n just copy the pages for whatever the library charges per sheet.

Heres some Cummins diesels from 60's n early 70's from Chilton
C-90... 4 cylinder...310 ci
C-105...4 cylinder...310 ci
C-140...4 cylinder...310 ci
C-160...6 cylinder...464 ci
CF-160...6 cylinder...464 ci
CR-160...6 cylinder...464 ci
C-175... 6 cylinder...464 ci
C-180...6 cylinder...464 ci
C-190...6 cylinder...464 ci
C-200...6 cylinder...464 ci
J-70...4 cylinder...267 ci
J-80...4 cylinder...267 ci
J-120...4 cylinder...267 ci
J-6...6 cylinder...401 ci.....100hp@1800rpm
JNR-100...6 cylinder...401 ci
JF-6...6 cylinder...401 ci....110hp@2200rpm
JN-130...6 cylinder...401 ci

The HP ratings are in the model number unless the number is a single digit, so I added the HP rating for the single digit engines. That should get you a little farther for now.

Yeah, that list I posted there was like maybe a quarter of what they have listed for cummins in my book so I will have a list for ya later down the road when i get mine going more n such but i dont think the production years will not be easy to find at all or ever.

I wonder if the Ford diesel used in the L8000s is related to the J-6 Cummins- same CID, inline six- i know they partnered together on some designs in the 60s and 70s.

The V8 diesels were actually made by Caterpillar. The 636 ci. is also known as a 3208 Cat. The smaller one I believe is an 1100 series engine but I'm not 100% sure.I do have some service literature on them at work and I'll check into it Monday.
