Ranger '88 brake diameter

Hello !
I just was in the states and whanted to buy a pair of rear breake cables (emergency brake) for my Ranger V6 2.9L Year '88.
Here in germany I do not get the parts at the ford dealership anymore.
They asked me what brake I would have - a 9" or 10" rearbrake.
Ford made both of the diameters in '88 and the cables are different.
Where exactly do I have to measure???

Please let me know , so I can order the right ones in the states -
thank you very much - Herby Germany

Look at the identification sticker in your drivers door jamb. There'll be a section marked as "Axle". Here's an example of my truck's ID tag.

If you're axle shows up as a 7.5" axle its the 9" brakes, if its the 8.8" axle then its the 10" brakes.

The axle codes are as follow's for Rangers:

No problem at all, drop in and keep in touch with us. We like to hear how foriegn truck of the same manufacture are doing compared to ours.

I'm jealous of your axle. I wish I had one exactly like it, limited slip, and the 3.73 gear. My truck, as shown has "84" which is the same axle housing, but has higher gears and is an open differential.
