Cheap Flowmaster!!

I just had to brag about this one, I just got an $84 muffler for $15!!

I am going to make this story as short as possible.
A guy named Matt had his dad buy him a Flowmaster Super 40 (retail $83.95 form Summit) for his truck. Matt had it on for about 5 minutes and didn't like it. So Matt gave the muffler to my friend Jon. Jon sold it to me for $15. The muffler wasn't even used long enough to burn the big "INLET" sticker off. Or even change its color, for that matter. I just got lucky.

As long as we're on the subject, are you sure it's a real Flowmaster. Large topic in the F-150 forum about fake ones. Real ones should have the Flowmaster logo as well as a serial number cast into them. I'd expect no problems since it was a purchase from a retailer like SR.

All that aside, congradulations, that's a steal! When's it going on?

Yes, it is a real flowmaster, it has the part number, serial number and Flowmaster logo. I don't know if I will put it on the Ranger, as I may possibly be getting a larger truck (kid on the way).

Well...no matter what happens with it, congradulations, seems like you did quite well for yourself. I can assure you it will sound pretty good on the Ranger...but I've got one on the Silverado as well, chopped behind the muffler, and it's downright numbingly loud behind a modded 5.3L. Just a little advice, should you put it on any sort of V8, go with some sort of tailpipes or you're going to be spending your next $1000 on making the sound system louder.

I know how ya feel Dave....I have a 7 week old and the Ranger isn't cuttin the mustard with the family life. Now if I want to go somewhere and haul something with the family I have to take my F350 crew cab off my work trailer. I need a F150 Super Crew or something.

I am one of those weird people who prefer the exhaust to the radio. I rarely listen to the radio during the summer. Windows down, loud exhaust... heaven!

Oh Dave, I like you even more lol... I'm absolutely infatuated with the windows down sound of the Silverado. The radio is very nice in it, but it is sometimes ignored just for the pure sound of exhaust. Perhaps it's the build on the 5.3L, but the muffler to me doesn't sound like a typical Flowmaster at any RPM. Flooring it consists of a horribly loud extremely deep sound until about 3000 RPM, where the volume of the bass muffler tone drops off and quickly is replaced by the "roar" of the engine.

My favorite exhaust tone in the entire world is running an automatic V8 hard through second gear then letting off and the RPMs falling off, making loud popping noises and grumbles as the engine speeds fall of quicky with the torque converter dragging it down.

I've actually seen guys pull up to a red light and blast exhaust sounds...like someone actually believes it's theirs...

I tried to make the hard acceleration of the Silverado my ringtone on my phone, but my little Nokia freaked out from the deep bass and then the whine.

hmm... might want to check the superduty or deisel forums. Not much help is here.

By the way, not many people are on here at 4:00am.

Snow methanol injection kit or propane injection or nitrous will boost your power along with a better turbo such as a new Garrett or a Holset or GDS Ball Buster turbo amongst many others. You can also upgrade your injection pump and injectors. Lots of stuff to be done to pull more power out of the Powerstroke.
