What should my gauges read?

Ok guys as I mentioned in my other thread I have picked up a MSD Dashhawk and have been working with their software engineers to get the parameters up and running for the 6.0. I need your help though as I am not entirely sure what readings I should be seeing on some of these parameters (or what they are in the first place on some). I figure the Techs and Programmers will know more about some of these readings but everyone else is more than welcome to chime in if they can help.

I am looking for average ranges/readings for the following parameters so I can help MSD verify they are working correctly. Please assume an unloaded truck in average settings (outside temp in the 70s, flat roads, mix of city/highway driving) since that is what most of my testing is going to be done with. Also, now that I think of it, maybe we should include where warning levels should be set and where damage may occur (for stuff like oil/trans temp etc).

Engine Coolant Temp
Engine Oil Temp
Engine Oil Pressure
Intake Air Temp - (I assume slightly above outside temp?)
Intake Manifold Pressure
Transmission Temp
Exhaust Gas Temp
Barometric Pressure - (I assume around 100kPa)
Fuel Pressure
RPM - (where should we set warnings and limits?)
Control Module Volts - (I believe this is the voltage at the ECM)
Boost - (I assume 0-30 for most engines, warning at 30 and max at 35)
Mass Air Flow (grams/sec)

Also, if we get good feedback here maybe this thread could get added to the Tech folder for anyone wondering about their guage readings.

If you have any questions about the Dashhawk itself please keep them in my other thread so we don't get too off topic in here.

I have heard that you want to see about 25-30 degrees higher then ambiant temp.

Never had that gauge.

I had heard that, I don't know the validity of this, but people have said that over 30 psi your running extra chances as to something happening to your engine.

Engine Coolant Temp - <220
Engine Oil Temp - Don't know
Engine Oil Pressure - Don't know
Intake Air Temp - (I assume slightly above outside temp?) - Don't know
Intake Manifold Pressure - Don't know
Transmission Temp - City: 160 to 170, towing 12K: 180 to 205
Exhaust Gas Temp - City: 600 to 800 cruising, 900 to 1,000 'on it', towing 12K: 900 to 1300 on grades, 1300 would be maximum IMO
Barometric Pressure - (I assume around 100kPa) - Don't know
Fuel Pressure - Don't know
RPM - (where should we set warnings and limits?) - Don't know
Control Module Volts - (I believe this is the voltage at the ECM) - Don't know
Boost - (I assume 0-30 for most engines, warning at 30 and max at 35) agreed
Mass Air Flow (grams/sec) - Don't know

I don't know the proper ranges for most of the info you're looking for. Hope what I did contribute helps some. Those are what my gauges read.

Barometric Pressure - (I assume around 100kPa) - Don't know Depends on weather and altitude - somewhere around 30" of mercury or 15 Lbs per sq in at sea level.

I agree with everything else said.

as you requested beerstalker, here is my input.

ECT - i agree with the others.

EOT - no more than 20 degrees higher than ect.

Oil pressure - hot idle should be around 50.

Intake Air Temp - there are two temp readings. one made into the MAF (IAT)which measures incoming air and will be around ambient air temp, and the other one (IAT 2) which is in the intake and measures the temp of tghe intake. this temp will vary because of whatever the temp of the truck is, whether EGR is flowing or not, boost temp, and so on.

Manifold Pressure - will basically start at atmosphereic pressure and go up from there depending on your boost psi.

Trans Temp - agree with the other guys

EGT - agree with the others

Barometric Pressure - you will have to obtain this locally from a weather channel

Fuel Pressure - KOEO will be 50 psi no less, hard load 45psi no less than 40 psi at any time.

Boost - minimum 22 psi max, 28 psi max by ford spec. i feel like 30 psi will be alot for factory setup, due to headbolts growing.
