water/meth

well, the PMS has progressed. I'm now looking for yet more power, while cleaning up some of the smoke from my new injectors and tony's 140+hp tune (chip seems to be "stuck in that position! ). i'm still contemplating a d66 or h2e, but will water/meth injection give me what i'm looking for?? how safe is this setup? (i'm looking for 500k out of this truck). any help always appreciated. thanks.

water/meth is mainly for keep EGT's down. the meth adds some power but it won't clear smoke. If you want to clear smoke and add power nitrous is what you want. as far as safety I believe its pretty safe until a valve sticks open and allows too much water into the engine and hydrolocks it. I think nitrous is much safer on diesels than it is on gas engines. Spray small amounts and you will be good to go. but I have no first hand experience with either of these so see what others say.

I heard that to much water=rusty cylinders and skirts. To much meth=higher egts. The mix of the solution is key. I ran it once and it was nice but i could drain a tank in a couple miles on a long grade. Its a tricky substance, dont abuse the drugs man cause they'll always get ya.

haha, thanks for the input guys. tj, any clue whats a safe level for the n2o? my only reservations with it are availability of refills and safety. will more likely than not do the turbo first, but i'm just thinking down the line.

I don't really know. I am sure a 50 shot would be pretty safe. Talk to RubberDuck I know he has the laughy gas on his rig.

I thought I saw a 45% to 55% mixture that was supposed to be good but I don't know which way.

Is the longblock stock? Adding water with a 15% methanol mix will add 5-7 lbs of boost......might make it a little touchy with the headgaskets. Other than that I never had any negative issues with running water injecton......other than having to fill the tank all the dang time. 8 gallons only lasts a week or two with "normal" driving, and can be draned in a matter of minutes when you stand on it.

The best way to tune NOS is on a dyno. Given that you are already blowing smoke you coud probably start with a 100 Hp jet and move up (or down) from there. Changing jest takes mere seconds, run whatever the truck likes best.

Brandon , was wondering what your EGT were . The water/meth will drop EGT and help build more HP and help slightly w/ smoke. The gas will also help with HP and drop smoke levels more so than water . The only problem is they are both short lived. The turbo is the ultmate answer to get your boost up sooner too burn all the fuel you are dumping. David

David,
Thanks for the post. EGT's normally don't venture above 800-900 post turbo. Just got off the phone with Dusty at BDP and I'm going to be ordering a D66 turbo when I get back from Jamaica (first week of June). I've been talking back and forth alot with RubberDuck and he's pointed me in the direction of N2O. I like the appeal of a bit more power and the ability to clear some extra smoke. It's basically going to be a play thing for me. Just don't want to blow the engine in the process. I'll keep you guys posted.

If you go with the D66 you'll be very pleased with how well it clears the smoke up for ya. Lets se if you can push the turbo better then I have..... Muahaha.

I know its not from the 7.3l forum, but if you have some time (get a coffee), this thread covers everything.

Including a couple of disintegrated 6.0l blocks as a result!!!
