I am having my frame sand blasted on Monday and would like some opinions on what primer and paint to use for the best look and weather resistance. The color will be red. Napa has industrial paint and primer (International red) for farm equipment, this was one idea put out there. Its an enamel. I do not have a garage to park the truck in, so I want to do this right .
have you thaught about having it rhino lined?i'm haveing mine ziebarted afyer sadblasting. hopefully by summer. btw,how much did it cost you for blasting?
I've used epoxy primer on alot of our farm equipment, it's much better than the cheaper primer. It is more hazzardous to your health, though. If you're doing the painting yourself without a booth, primer and bedliner does well, too. I did my 84 Bronco frame with Dupli-Color on top of Rusto-leum, but did not remove the body or have the frame sandblasted. Wishing now that I did, it would only have cost about $200 from a local blaster.
I brushed on rustoleum red metal primer and satin black. It is holding up well, but I don't live in the rust belt either.
I did the same and it's holding up well also, I do not drive the truck in the winter but, I do drive it daily in the summer months (since I am in the rust belt!!). -Ed
