I have a 2003 f-150 4x4 with the 4.6. I know this isn't the most powerful truck motor stock but it seems to me like it should be able to break the tires loose from a dead stop. Not really looking to spin my tires at every stop sign but i'd like to be able to lay a little rubber in the parking lot at work with the rest of the guys every now and then. so my question, is there traction control on these trucks? it almost seems like it starts out in 2nd gear when you floor it from a stop.
any input would be greatly appreciated
Nope, no traction control... combination of a motor with little bottom end power, and tall gears, and disk rear brakes, and taller tires...
If you want some more power look at a CAI, Cat back exaust, and a tuner. I have these on my truck and i can do some good burnouts if i feel like being mean to my tires....
Good luck..
Oh and for the record i dont think the 5.4l will do a good burn out from a stop either in stock trim.
Could be possible that you have a Limited Slip rear end....but not traction control. In my 04 Heritage w/ 4.6l... which is basically an 03....I actually have a problem with it doing it all the time haha.
