heater control valve

having trouble with my a/c. I think its the heater control valve or something.but dont know where its located. it will blow heat out the dashboard vents. if I release the vacuum by disconnecting a line under the hood and replacing it, I will get some a/c. but nothing great. the rear a/c works great. was wondering if the hot water is not being cut off to the heater core. or something else. if anyone can shed some extra light on the subject would really be appreciated seeing its almost summer here in Florida !

What year expy ??????????? Pop the hood & follow the heater hoses back towards the engine. You should find it.

its a '99. will follow the lines. I also heard from someone that it could be the blend door which I guess are trouble with the expeditions and the 150's. I also noticed that it changes over to heat if I accelerate hard. and the temp control on the the dash makes no change either way.making me believe its more a vacuum problem than a broken door....I hope.
