O2 Sensor
I have a 1991 F-150 with the 302 and I am planning to remove the catalytic converters shortly. A friend I work with says that the O2 sensors are not neccesary at all. Other than the check engine light, will removeing the O2 sensors affect my performance?

Yes it will.
The O2 sensor is a critical input to the EEC-IV. If you remove it you will never reach closed loop. By the way, ANY time the check engine light is on that means that you computor ha thrown a HARD CODE. Any hard code, will drastically effect performance, economy etc.

Jegs and Summit sell a Mil eliminator to keep you from having a check engine light and codes all the time. It will mount where your O2 sensor(s) are now. You definitely need them. Your performance and gas mileage is going to be drastically affected without them.

I know this is late, but MIL eliminators are only for after-catalyst sensors. They do not replace the primary O2 sensor(s). The only trucks in this forum that have after-cat sensors are the 96 F150's which are OBD-II.
