I have a buddy of mine telling me to use a AC condeser unit for a tranny cooler. I know they are big in size and aluminum but the line is small in diameter. Has anyone ever done this on thier truck. I got a F350 7.3 N/A E40D tranny. I am very hesitant to try this. I would rather spend the cash to get an aluminum cooler then be sorry down the road. I do have a junk car that I could get the AC condensor off of but I don't know. Does anyone have feed back on this let me know.
I myself would not do it unless the inlet and outlet are the same size as the trans lines, and you may want to consider the capacity of it,if it doesnt move enough fluid through a cooler that has a capacity large enough to be effective you may end up not cooling the fluid at all and end up with a hot trans.I would spend the money and get a cooler that is made for trans and be done, you may want to check an rv dealer and see what they sugest or try jc whitney
I put a 6.0 trans cooler on my 96 and it worked great. I had an AC condenser that i considered using. It was a big one but the line diameter was smaller like you're saying and you don't want any restrictions to flow.
