Any of you Ford truck fans ever played with water/alcohol injection?
My 79 wich is running pretty good now after the top end make over still has some rattle noises that sounds like timing. Last week even pulled the front cover off and double checked my timing marks (new chain and gears) and all were where they should be. A guy at work brought up water injection, that it was used for timing noises, and even a slight horsepower boost. I remember Holley in the 80's selling water injection but never even picked up a box. FTE has some gtg's coming up and I want to be able to take the 79, (fuel prices pending). Bob
Water injection really never took off big. It injected a small amount of water (a mist) into the intake manifold, cooling off fuel and air as it went into the cumbustion chamber wich helped eliminate pinging and rattle noises. Was more used in high compressioned engines, and high horsepowered engines.
Found a listing on ebay. A never installed Edlebrock water injection system for $100, now into the $250 and up range. Bob
We have a chapter member that is running the water/meth either on his T-bird coupe or his Pinto (or both?)... Last I recall, he was getting some fair results...
I had a Buick GS stage 1 (455) when I was young. An older guy here had one and was running the water injection on his. He said he could run the lower grades of gas without all the pinging. Gas was cheap back then, so I ran the higher grade.
