428 build oppinion
in the future im going to build a 428 for my 76. my plan is
block bored just enough to clean it up
trw-L2303 pistions
block decked so the pistions sit flush
crane 349521 cam
DSC power flow 428CJ heads
DOVE roller rockers with heavy duty shafts and end stands
DOVE spyder single plane intake
MR gasket .038" head gasket
holley 950 DP
i really aint looking for an all low end truck motor i want it to scream i want it to be nasty, otherwise i wouldent build it that way. i know the heads need new springs for the cam other than that bring on the oppinions.

Well I'am doing a similar build right now..and have been for quite some time now..after 2 bad 428 blocks and getting pissed off and selling what parts I had..and starting all over gain..
I'am not a big dan of the dove rocker's..But I know alot of guys who use them..with good results (Not My Luck) I'll use the Erson's
Not a fan of the Spyder intake by Jim either.. But thats me...I had bad machining luck with the Edelbrock Victor..But alot of guys have used them with a little rework..
I think the cam you'll like..I'am running the big brother to it..but Mines a Custom grind by Erson..Hyd. Roller.. somewhere around .640" int. and .655" exh.. on a 112* LSA...Avertised 302* 310* duration..
I dont know wht Dennis's heads flow? But I hve decided to go with KC's stage II Heads..thts my next major buy..
I'll also be running a T-Ram with two 625cfm Demons up on top.. and around 11.3 to CR on pump gas..Thats my goal.. and hoping for 600hp ? DD"s show more and so does the EA3 nd Werby's gonlulator..So we will see ? LOL.. JMO..
Sounds like your on the right track anyhow !!

i dont know where i found it before but somewhere online i found flow numbers for ported big port C4s with 2.09 and 1.73 valves so i used them for flow. according to DD peak torque at 5000 with 564 ft/lbs with 432 at 2000 and its showing exactly 600 peak hp at 6000 and 6500. the flow numbers are

BTW Great Pics of the Dragon Wagon... She looks Awesome! If I can afford another color cartrage for my printer..I'll put her up the "Buddies of Mine" Drag Racing wall...
And 76 F-150....those are some real good Number's, but not realistic.. Larry's running some rubbed on edheads and 2 fours.. and his motor is put together just right...He's been at it for years..I think we figured he's about 575hp @ the flywheel..Pretty close...and with his combo..he getting the max out of his heads nd cam... and with his approximate flow numbers....He is making the max HP per CFM on his heads..
Just too be real..I hoping for 600hp out of my build..running the T-ram nd 2 carbs, heads that flow more..Bigger Valve's and a larger cam and, A hopefully will get the 4.250" arm and custom rods and pistons to boot sometime this winter?
A Like yours..Guessimating..?? 500hp...and probably round 500ft. lbs of Tq.. Just a Guess..
