There's a 2005 F-250 Super Duty for sale. 6.0L Powerstroke, automatic, 46,000 miles, lariat package, about a 4 inch lift (Rancho, all done right--looks good), crew cab, cab lights, gooseneck hitch point in the back. All for $30,000...is it worth it? What would you guys pay?
If you are at all serious get the VIN and take it to a Ford Dealer and see if they will run an Oasis report. At least you'll know what kind of Ford service it"s had.
ok, any problems with the 6.0? I hear they're a little touchy to say the least. With the gooseneck hitch in the bed, and it looks like there used to be a fifth wheel too, how much towing could these handle before anything becoming a problem?
I guess I'm giving mine away. Mine is a 6.0 SRW Crew Cab fully loaded King Ranch with 30,000 miles. With extra set of Dune 8's with MT ATZ's for $30k.
The BS meter is probably pinged right? I am selling to my cousin. My new 08 will be here June 6th if all goes well.
Check out the Vin # for sure. This should be done on every used vehicle. It will save you in the end. As far as the truck goes, around here that would be considered cheap. It would probably go around $34K or $35K. Trucks are like gold around here. Just to let you know, that gooseneck hitch might be useless with the lift.
yeah, I thought so too about the hitch, but it's been used, so someone found out how to make it work. Where do I go with the Vin#, just any Ford dealership? or do I have to do those carfax reports or something

Either that or they used it before they lifted the truck. Anyways, you might be able to squeek by with a 4" lift. It would be as much as I would lift it and still tow heavy trailers.
Just beware that the 6.0 has its problems. My 05 that I bought is November is still in the shop because it keeps blowing o-rings on the HP oil side!!! I've been a Ford fan all my life, but if Ford keeps it up with the crappy craftsmanship and parts, I might have to switch over to the dark side and go to either Dodge or Chevy for my trucks! The really only good thing is that it is all being covered under the 100k mile motor warranty.
I have had the V10 since 2001, has not been in for any type of work (except brakes, lift, etc.). I really like the power you can get out of the 6.0 with very little cost (relatively speaking). I was seriously considering going for the 6.0 until I spoke to two of my cousins, both running 6.0s. One is a 2005, the other a 2006. The 2005 has already had the cab off of the frame to do the heads, blew a head gasket, was not even towing, says he was unloaded, on the street when it went, by the way, this truck is bone stock. The 2006 blew a piston and he got rid of it, this truck had some mods, exhaust, chip and intake. This one blew unloaded as well. I do want a diesel but I guess I will have to wait a few more years. I do not want to start a battle, and I do know that many have had good luck, just want to give some honest feedback...... Good luck!!!!

You need to find a different dealer with a competent & qualified diesel tech. The HPOP fitting was redesigned to prevent this problem and there have been no reported failures since it was redesigned. Either the tech is not putting in the updated part or he is damaging it somehow when he installs it.
BTW Dodge & GM have problems too, just read there boards.
