power window problems

Hi all, I have recently purchased a 2000 explorer sport. It has the 4.0 and 5 speed tran., with 137,xxx miles. Everything works and runs well except the power windows ( both driver and pass) and no dome light. I have checked the fuse under the hood and it looks fine. Any suggestions on where to start next?

windows will not do anything. They won't roll down or up and there doesn't seem to be any noise from the motor trying to work ( the window motor)

bad switch or no power to drivers door control panel ?

The main power wire in the door bellows is broken, probably find others ready to go, I add/solder a 2" piece to relieve the stress

not fixed yet

I have checked the wires and none are broken. I seem to have power to the switch, but still neither passenger or driver winows will roll down. The passenger controls give the same results. I am thinking that the motors are bad, but hate to shell out the money for them and be wrong.
