I ordered an ATS housing for my stock turbo that will be here in a few days. I have a 6.0l intercooler also, and was wondering if it is worth putting it in. Will I notice a big difference in EGT's? I have been looking at putting a van turbo on it also, since I can pick one up for a good deal. Would I notice more of a difference in the EGT temp once I installed the van turbo?
My truck has the following mods currently. 4" down pipe 5" from muffler out,6637 filter,dp tuner 60,80,120 modes, hpx, boost anhialator. 2000,2wd x-cab longbed.
Any answers or suggestions will be appreciated.
I dropped a max of 100 degrees on EGT's when I put the 6.0L I/C in. Definately worth it for such a cheap mod.
You will need to get new boots for each side of the intercooler, plus a new 3" boot clamp for the driver's side. The hot side on the 6.0L unit is smaller than the stock 7.3L, but they are both the same size on the cold side. It's a straight 3" inlet on the hot side, and the cold side is a 3.25" (same as what you have now).
I guess since the intercooler was free, I can invest some money in the couplers. I suppose it will be better for it too when I put the van turbo in it.
