i have the same leak (2000 f250) is there anyway someone could get pics or photo shop a pic to show the few/many who don't know. thank you for the time and helping to save lots of money
So your saying you do not see any oil in the "valley" ( the V of the motor) ? You will more then likely need a flashlight to see the oil, as its pretty dark down there. Look there and tell us what you find....
Get under the truck and look up around the back part of the motor -- that's where I saw all the oil when my CAC tubes were leaking. And yes, it was dripping from the tranny too, which made me think rear main as well...
looking from the underside of the eng. the oil looks like it is coming from the rear main. but i have not pulled the tranny insp cover the vally under the intake is dry. so i don't know
Let me rephrase that... Look up above the tranny like where the heads & block come together. When I had mine up on a lift the first time, it scared the crap out of me. It turned out to be simple for me, but if you don't see any oil coming down from above the tranny, I'd be surprized...
There are also some oil galley plugs (rather large, requires 1/2" square drive) that are sealed with an o-ring on the back side of the heads. Not a common place to leak but has known to.
hey i had a dripping bell house on a used 02" PSD x i bought with 112k on it and almost pulled the engine for rear main also. check all over top of engine for above mentioned and found nothing. Even had to other techs. look it over and they both figured rear main. it was coming out of bottom of bell housing. not on top or around sides or being blown back. Smelled what i thought was raw diesel fuel a couple of times and had no history on truck so changed oil, fuel filter and air filter first week I owned it and my dripping bell housing was no more! had to be the fuel filter not sealing or drain not completley closed or something. 2k since and still bone dry. Really ck it over close before diving into rear main!! Good luck.
sorry to bring this back just don't want to start a new thread. i found oil in my valley. so that means my hpop has a leak right. if not where else do i look?

Check your turbo pedestal for the leak, could also be your hpop lines.Might just be an oil plug or oring. You need to find out where its coming from.
Two weeks ago I had oil in the valley. The oil was making it's way to the back of the motor and then running down and dripping from around the starter and also from the tranny inspection cover. After sitting overnight it would leave a 4" round spot on the driveway.
I took it to Ford and they repaired under warranty. The service tech advised that the CAC tubes were leaking along with the HPOP o-rings. They replaced those items and leak is gone.
If the oil is way at the back of the valley, but dry up front check your turbo pedestal and the exhaust back pressure valve seal. Here's a link for the info on this site for that:
Just be thorough in your inspection and cleaning of the engine and it'll be no problem finding the leak. No sense in doing repairs that aren't necessary.
pulled off the i/c hot pipe and looked down in the valley only oil in the back under the turbo. so now hard hard is it to fix this leak and how long will it take me?
