Unhooking the red line just takes away PCM control of it. All that'll open it now is if the exhaust gas pressures overcome the weak spring in the actuator, blowing it open. If your stock one is strong, though, no need for an aftermarket. However, one like the BBHA is very strong, and stays shut tight until the PCM tells it to open.
