im hoping it wouldn't be to much to ask but i was wondering what casting numbers or ways of i.d. - ing the flat head in my 53 you might know of . any help would be much appreciated !
hoping this might help you, it sure did with my 53, might be just canadian made flatties, im not really sure
Why is it that you "canooks" got all the hot motors? Same machines, bigger motors in Canada? eh? Just a little ribbing. My Flattie is long gone and the PO's 289 has been now replaced with a 302.....
thanks for the info will be quite helpful . now all i gotta do is drag it home . jus' spent all day yesterday up on the ill , wisconsin border pickin ' up my donor cab for my 55 and i was supposed to get both of ' em . didn't happen.
i'll get somepics up here as soon as i get both home , but the donor truck i'd described before it's a 55 f 100 with the rear axle flipped and what appears to be de arched springs , monte carlo front clip. what i wanted though is / was the cab. it has all 4 cab corners replaced , front and rear, new floor pan , and no rust anywhere . it came with two doors that other than surface rust are rust free and two with some small rust holes in the bottom edge . all window glass a darn near new set of factory gauges ,a cut down 8 inch ford diff , and a myriad of other small parts all for 550 and some time . so yep its solid .
p.s the 53 i bought here in town and the only reason i'm not drivin; it home is a bad brake wheel cylinder and as i've said before i'm gettin' anxious as that flattie is beckoning to me !!!!!!!!!
lol i know the feeling. mine was laid up for 2 weekswhile i waited for water pumps for my old 239. missed a car show and everything. sounds tike the 55 donor is in very good shape. are you keeping any of the mods on it (monte front clip, etc)or just the cab? sound really good
i gave my old cab, a 351 windsor and auto, some extra body parts and the frame with the monte carlo front clip and various and sundry other parts to my son in law Adam. he's a good kid and is always there to help me with my project{s} so i figured what the hey . being married to my daughter and two kids he doesn't have a lot of extra cash so i figure will get him involved with these old FORDS this way!
i was waiting for you to throw some more stuff in NumberDummy. Thats alright, sounds like he has most of a truck now. Thats an awesome starter project. I wish mine was like that when i got it lol
me i got to many projects so if i didn't give that one it would be sittin' round here for 10 or 15 years ! naw , like i said good kid and he loves cars and trucks . well gotta go try and find me some flattie goodies 'fore bed . hmmm to many toys !!!!
