302 decoding and parts
i have a 302 that i am considering putting in my 68 and i want to get as much info about it as possible as far as the year and such. where would i look to decode the motor id numbers? secondly, what year mounts do i need and oil pan? what about drive shaft?

You need to look at these parts for 2 sets of casting numbers per part.
Intake Manifold -
Block (near starter on side of block) - ie: D2AE-6050-B
Heads -
One set of numbers is the engineering code
the other set is the actual casting date code.

For instance, that photo above is of a part designed for 302 in a 1972 Large ford car and was cast on September 20 ,1971
