Is the E-150 frame the same as the F-150? Same years. And if it is simlar enough what configuration would I be able ot use? Short box, std cab, etc
Also, a more generic auto question, I have an all black nite I want to rebuild. Crap loads of rust. I can buy newly pressed panels and such, but how can I paint decently on the cheap? Is it a simple of matter of getting the panels painted before I put em on? I have no experiance with painting besides models.

I always considered them to be the same, you will have to match up the wheel base. There should be a tag on the drivers door that specs out the wheel base. On a std cab, short bed I would suspect your wheel base to be 119". A van that short could be difficult to locate, most of the vans we have around here are around 133".
Cheap paint is cheap paint. If you have a clean location, you can buy the paint from a local distributor and spray it your self to save money. Prep is the key to good paint and prep=time=money. If you assemble your truck, and do all the prep work then your painter will not have to charge you as much for the work he must do.
It should have 1-3 gears if it's even remotely recent. Just your shifter doesn't give you the options for lower gears. No OD most likely means it's a 3 speed, no 4 gear/OD.
Well yes and no. You see when we bought it the mechanic told us it had been relieved of its E40D (I think, the sticker say code "E" for tranny) and replaced with something better. So it has the option on the shifter, but when you actually put it in gear 1= D D=N and R is about the same, like the linkage was messed with or something.
